Slapy dam
Slapy dam was built in 1950 and is an important part of the Vltava cascade. Its importance mainly dwells in the protection against high waters, but it also serves to generate electricity.
Today, the dam is a popular holiday resort due to its location and beauty.
Sázava
Often called the Golden River by canoeists and campers, however, the name does not relate to the gold mining in Jílové, but to the color of water, which is caused by the clay soil. We can see that very well at the confluence with the Vltava river.
Sázava is 225 km long and the Czech Republic it is not only among the canoeists one of the most popular rivers.
Racecourse Chuchle
The Great Chuchle racecourse is situated on the southern outskirts of Prague, racing is held here from April to mid-November. The first race took place here in 1906, even though the month before that the whole stadium was under water due to the flood.
A frequent visitor to the Great Chuchle was the first Czechoslovak president Tomas Garrigue Masaryk, in 1929 he even arrived horseback accompanied only by a groom. In 2002, a devastating flood struck the racetrack, but operation was restored the next year.
